A Bittersweet Farewell

Seven and a half years ago, still fairly new to Stettler, I took a leap of faith and joined the Jewel Theatre as the General Manager, knowing nothing of how a movie theatre worked. Over time I learned the ropes, we worked out the kinks and I found my place in this community.

I have bagged enough popcorn to fill the entire auditorium - maybe twice over but loved every minute of it. I have worked with a lot of fun people, some that have become good friends. I have dressed up in fun and silly costumes which hopefully entertained some of you! I have worked with local businesses, schools and charities which has been a great way to get to know so many community members. I had the best job in the world for raising my two daughters while they were little; the theatre was their playground for many years. I even got to go to CinemaCon in Vegas this past year and had a blast (maybe even too much of a blast!).

It is now time for me to move on. I am headed to a great new job that has the hours I have been wanting. I am always interested in learning new skills and this is my chance to do something different. I am confident that Wendy and her crew will do wonderful things and serve this community well. I am leaving knowing the theatre is in good hands.

I have been so lucky to get to know many of you over the years; the smiles, laughter & visits would fill my cup every day. I look forward to seeing you all out and about in the community, maybe I’ll even get to catch a movie with you sometime!

My last day is Friday, June 17th - come by, say hi and grab some ‘corn!

For the last time: See you at the movies!
